The association of PG Department of Library and Information
Science “Bibliotheque Club De Vellalar”,
organized a Guest Lecture on “Subject
Gateways” on September 07,2013 in the department.
The
Programme began with silent prayer and Mrs.S.Savitha, II MLISc., Welcomed the
gathering. Mr.T.Stephen, Head, PG Department of Library and Information Science
introduced the resource person Mr.
B.Maruthu Pandian, Deputy Manager-Knowledge Services, Advinus Therapeutics
Ltd., Bangalore. The first session of the day the concept of Subject
Gateway, difference between google search and subject gateways with necessary
examples and other search techniques were
well explained by the Resource Person through PPT with various
illustrations.
In the
second session he has given a practical demonstration on various methods of
Information retrieval using internet, creating Subject gateway using software
such as MOODLE, various subject gateways. The day ended with vote thanks by Ms.
Nithya, I MLISc., and National Anthem.
